Minnesota Hockey Honors EHA with “Grow The Game” Award

Minnesota Hockey honored EHA with the DICK’s Sporting Goods “Grow The Game” at an awards ceremony on Saturday, April 23rd. The award recognizes a select number of youth hockey associations for their proven ability to grow interest in the game in the state of Minnesota.

One example of how EHA has grown youth hockey is through the Little Wildcats program that strives to get younger boys and girls interested in the game. Little Wildcats includes age-appropriate instruction, fun-experiences on the ice, and provides any child new to the game with a brand new full set of gear. The equipment can be kept by a player when they enroll for the next season of play at Eagan Hockey—making it a cost-effective way for more families to begin their youth hockey experience.

The DICK'S Sporting Goods “Grow The Game Award” was established to recognize associations who have gone above and beyond to build the game within their communities and give anyone with an interest in hockey an opportunity to play - with proven results. Each year, two associations are recognized for their efforts.

Due to strengthened recruiting efforts, EHA player numbers have increased from Termites, 6U, 8U, Mini-Mites and Mites levels over the last five seasons.

2017-18:  184 players

2018-19:  215 players

2019-20:  247 players

2020-21:  263 players

2021-22:  299 players

* The 6 and Under (6U) girls hockey program has grown to one of the largest programs with 45 skaters this season.
